Since its entry into the Indian market, Gionee has faced an uphill struggle against established competition and market preconceptions. Through effective marketing campaigns and quality products, the brand is seeing itself in an ever improving position. With the Gionee Elife E7 Mini, it tries to bring some of the learnings from the flagship E7 to a more affordable price point while also adding yet another twist to the smartphone.Hardware At first glance, the Gionee Elife E7 Mini looks like a surprisingly handsome device. Available in a range of pastel shades, we got our hands on the black unit which has exemplary build quality. The front of the phone comprises mostly of the tack sharp 4.7 inch screen which is surrounded by fairly slim bezels on the left and right. Up above, the phone houses its USP ie the rotating camera assembly. To maintain symmetry, the bezel below the display is equally large and includes capacitive buttons. As we mentioned earlier, the design of the phone espouses a design philosophy and attention to detail that isn't often seen at this price point. Hardware lines run sharp along the side of the phone while the top and button edges curve gently over. On the right ...

But great looks do not make a great phone, are the internals and software up to the task of keeping up with the stellar design? Read on to find out. Gionee's upcoming GN9005, i.e., the Gionee Elife S4.8 is all set to hit the shelves in the coming weeks. However, those that can't wait to have a glimpse of the device are in business today, as the device just got leaked via some spy cam shots. Believed to be thinner than the Elife S5.5, a device that holds the tag of being the thinnest Android smartphone yet, the Elife S4.8 is expected to be 5.5mm (or under) thick. This will easily make the phone the thinnest one in the world, beating the S5.5 by about 10%. The device has already managed to receive network certification, bringing it a step closer to launch. It'll come with a quad-core processor from Qualcomm, clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of ram to comprise the heart of the device. Other specifications include an 8 mega-pixel camera and a 2050mAh battery (which somehow Gionee engineers have managed to cram in the slim body), with the surprise inclusion being on-board LTE. Gionee teases its 5mm phone yet again; Launch soon?

Image may be NSFW.

We've talked about the uber-thin Gionee phone that's been in the works in the past. According to what we're hearing, this phone will measure an insane 5mm thick ('thin' perhaps), to claim the title of the world's thinnest Android smartphone. That title is currently held by another Gionee phone, the Elife S5.5, which true to its name measures 5.5mm thick. The Elife S5.5 comes with an impressive specs set for the thin body it has, thereby dismissing claims that thin smartphones can't have an able-enough specs set. Gionee has been circulating this interesting-looking teaser for this new phone. Given that it received network certification a while back, we believe this teaser could hint at a launch that is around the corner. Gionee has gone on to become a popular smartphone manufacturer not only in China, but in India as well, where its budget offerings have done very well. Gionee largely follows the offline sales channel, which isn't taken by a lot of other Chinese makers. We wonder what the company will do with the 5mm phone they have on the roadmap! Via

You read it right, Gionee is back and in some style! After launching the now-former thinnest smartphone in the world, the Elife S5.5, the fast rising Chinese OEM has now pulled off something even more exciting - a 5.1mm phone! Following the same nomenclature, this 5.1mm phone is dubbed 'Elife S5.1'. While the cosmetics on the Elife S5.1 shout high-end, the device is more of a mid-range phone on the inside. Which is understandable, given the restrictions caused by the extremely slender body that Gionee would've had to face. Specifications 4.8-inch 1280 x 720p AMOLED display 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 40o (MSM8926) CPU 1GB RAM 16GB non-expandable storage Dimensions: 139.8x67.4x5.15mm 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash 5-megapixel front camera 4G LTE 2100mAh battery Amigo 2.0 (based on Android v4.3) There's no word on pricing as yet, but we know that the device will start selling in China starting this month itself. Gionee has been actively marketing itself in India, where it also launched the Elife S5.5, a device that received rave reviews, for 22,999 INR earlier this year. While the Elife S5.5 was more of an all-rounder, the Elife S5.1 is completely a looker, but isn't as capable under the hood as the former. Source 1, 2
